Minecraft Server Updated to 1.7.2

The Minecraft server has been updated to a beta build of 1.7.2. This is a substantial update to Minecraft, so there is a higher then normal chance of bugs & stability issues with the server and the plugins that we use. Let me know if you run into anything game breaking.

Minecraft Server: Travelportals

TravelPortals has been added to the Minecraft server.

Portals are 3×3, and consist of 6 pieces of obsidian, a door, and a redstone torch for the center. From above, the portal looks like this:

n o n
o R o
n D n

o is a stack of two obsidian blocks, D is a door, and R is a redstone torch. n can be any block or air. It does not matter. After you have constructed the frame, place a redstone torch at the bottom. It should tell you that you have created a portal, and fill up with water.

After this, just give the portal a name, and give it the name of another portal for the destination and you’re set. As long as the destination portal exists, walking into it will take you straight there. For help in-game, type /portal help.

/portal name [name] sets the name of the portal in front of you.
/portal warp [name] sets the name of the portal that the portal in front of you warps to.
/portal info gives basic information about the portal in front of you.

Minecraft Server Updated to 1.6.2

The Minecraft Server has been updated to 1.6.2, which includes 1.6.1 (the horse update). There is no official build for Bukkit yet, so we are running an early development build that supports 1.6.2. There might be issues, bugs, and crashes. Let me know if you run into any problems.

Teamspeak Server Moved

We have been experiencing DDOS attacks towards the teamspeak server. Apparently one of the other customers is being targeted, but the attacks are targeting the entire server instead of specific ports. We have moved the teamspeak server to another location that is able to filter these types of attacks, so hopefully we will not have to move the server again. I have updated the DNS record for ts.neutralx2.com to point to the new server, however the port has changed. The new address is ts.neutralx2.com:10040

Minecraft Server Updated to 1.5

Minecraft has been updated to 1.5, so I have updated the server as well. There is no official build for Bukkit yet, so we are running an early development build that supports 1.5. There might be issues, bugs, and crashes. I have backed up the server before upgrading though, so if we run into problems we can always roll back to before the update. 1.5 is a pretty huge update with a focus on redstone, so get to building guys. I am looking forward to seeing all the new awesome machines.

CS:GO Server Shutting Down

The CS:GO server will not be renewed in January. This is due to the lack of interest in CS:GO. The server has been empty over 90% of the time the last few months, and when it does have players in it, they are rarely Noobs Paradise members. If anyone else is interested in running a Noobs Paradise server for CS:GO or CS:Source, feel free to contact me and put one up.

The Minecraft and Teamspeak servers will remain up, as will this website.

Minecraft Server Updated to 1.4.6

Teamspeak Server Renewed

Our teamspeak server is paid up for another year. All Noobs Paradise members and their friends are free to make use of it. If you need a channel and admin privileges to your channel let me know and I will set it up. If the server starts to get populated, I have no problems increasing the number of slots to allow more in at a single time.

New Maps & Stats

We have made a few changes to the server. First up, max rounds is now set to 20. That means 10 rounds per side before it swaps the teams. The auto snipers have been restricted as well.

We are also testing out custom maps. We have two on the server right now: de_mirage_csgo and de_atom_pre4. These are both pre-release beta versions, so there may be minor issues such as missing textures. We are starting out with two maps just to test the map downloads and custom rotations. If all goes well, expect to see even more variety in the maps rotation soon.

The only downside to the custom maps is that there is no download progress screen. It may appear that your game is broken and not loading the map while it is downloading. However, it is working. Just hang in there until it finishes downloading. Hopefully this is something that Valve will improve shortly.

The biggest update is that we are now running gameME stats. They are similar to the old PsychoStats that we used to run on Source. You can check them out at http://stats.noobsparadise.com
