Nice to see you around, hope you are doing well! I am not sure if many people still visit these forums anymore, the community sorta just dissolved. This was Nemesis’ and my attempt to try to start it back up when CS:GO came out. It was doing well for a few months, but then people seemed to lose interest and the server sat empty most of the time. I blame CS:GO and its emphasis on matchmaking more then anything. People just stopped playing on dedicated servers.

I have considered opening up a CSS server, but I think that ship as sailed as well. I have a bunch of old NP players on my friends list, and I don’t see many of them playing. Maybe one day we will get a true Counter-Strike 2 and I can make another run at it.

This site will stay up though. At the very least its a place we can discuss things and find each other.

Also, a few of us play on a Minecraft server from time to time. Details are here if you are interested.

    TravelPortals has been added:

Portals are 3×3, and consist of 6 pieces of obsidian, a door, and a redstone torch for the center. From above, the portal looks like this:

    n o n
    o R o
    n D n

o is a stack of two obsidian blocks, D is a door, and R is a redstone torch. n can be any block or air. It does not matter. After you have constructed the frame, place a redstone torch at the bottom. It should tell you that you have created a portal, and fill up with water.

After this, just give the portal a name, and give it the name of another portal for the destination and you’re set. As long as the destination portal exists, walking into it will take you straight there. For help in-game, type /portal help.

/portal name [name] sets the name of the portal in front of you.
/portal warp [name] sets the name of the portal that the portal in front of you warps to.
/portal info gives basic information about the portal in front of you.

Then in that case I would suggest getting AMD’s closest equivalent, which I believe is still the FX-8350

It should work out well enough for you in the long run. It looks like next gen consoles are getting 8 core AMD APUs running at relatively low clock speeds. So no doubt this will be able to handle all of those ports. It might do it even better then the 3570k given that it has more cores and those games will finally start taking advantage of more then 4.

I don’t remember you, but you were probably around way before I joined the community. However, I do know the guys you mentioned.

A lot of us have moved on from Counter-Strike, although Vito still plays CS:GO pretty regularly. Occasionally I will join him for a match or two, just to remind myself how terrible I have gotten at it.

Nemesis is still around as well. I play other games with him somewhat regularly such as Planetside 2 and Battlefield 3. I believe he is currently addicted to World of Warcraft again, which is probably somewhat my fault.

I see Minion still playing CS:Source from time to time, although he really doesn’t drop by the site. If you want to get in touch with him I would suggest just messaging him over Steam.

It really depends on your budget, but I would get off of the AMD platform and get something like a 3570K if you can swing it.

    New LWC item protections.

Blocks can be protected with three basic protection types:

    Private

By default, only you can access this protection. You can also modify it (or specify when creating) to add other players or groups to the protection, so they can access it. Say you wanted Notch and Hidendra to both access the protection. When creating the protection, you could do /cprivate Notch Hidendra or if it already exists /cmodify Notch Hidendra. If you wanted to remove Hidendra from the private protection, you can use /cremove -Notch

    Password

A password is set on the protection and anyone that knows the password can open it. You yourself also need this password each time you log in.

    Public

Mainly targeted at community chests, a Public chest means just that: anyone can access it, but no one can protect it which makes it advantageous because it cannot be made private by someone else.

    Commands

    • /lwc – The LWC command for everything, however aliases are available to make some commands shorter. Type /lwc in-game for more detailed help.
    • /cprivate – The alias of /lwc create private (or /lwc -c private), it creates a private protection.
    • /cpassword <password> – The alias of /lwc create password <password>, it creates a passworded protection.
    • /cpublic – The alias of /lwc create public, it creates a public protection
    • /cremove – Allows you to remove a protection you own (or if you’re an LWC admin, any protection) – you must click on the protection after using /cremove in order to remove it.
    • /cunlock <password> – Allows you to attempt to gain access to a passworded protection after LWC tells you you attempted to open a password protection.
    • … more! There are aliases for all major used commands and every alias is not listed here
